Description

OSSE and the Center on Great Teachers and Leaders are pleased to announce the Teaching and Learning division’s June talent event, Growing a Community of Excellent Educators: Talent as a Lever of Equity. The event will convene LEA- and school- level leaders of instruction and talent and provide opportunities to skill-build, collaborate, network, and learn about best practices. It will also kick off OSSE’s new Talent Community of Practice (CoP).

The purpose of the convening is to:

  • Build participant content knowledge and skills in the application of best practices in the following areas:
    • Accelerating teacher development and support
    • Maximizing the effectiveness of teacher recruitment
    • Nurturing equitable talent systems
  • Provide the opportunity for peer-to-peer collaboration on problems of practice in the areas above
  • Build a shared understanding of persistent challenges in LEA and citywide educator pipelines, and work towards solutions that foster excellence in educator talent for individual LEAs and for our citywide community

Registration: First, please review the linked breakout list. Once reviewed, please RSVP to the event by submitting this Eventbrite registration form. The form will prompt you to share your preference for each breakout block.

Agenda: Please find an agenda for the day here.

Background: For the past four years, OSSE and TNTP have convened LEAs as part of the Staffing Data Collaborative, a group that continues to be offered to DC LEAs. Based on feedback from Staffing Data Collaborative members and other LEAs on the need to broaden support around the talent pipeline, OSSE is launching this event and the additional CoP to provide further technical assistance and training beyond the topics covered in Staffing Data Collaborative reports. The CoP series, including the session at this first event, is available to all LEAs including those in the Staffing Data Collaborative.

Thank you! We look forward to seeing you at the event. Please stay tuned for additional details to follow.
