The 2 day Grow workshop experience will help you design and grow your garden with confidence.
Grow — A Two-Day Immersive Garden Design Experience
Grow is a two-day immersive garden design experience created to deepen your connection to your garden and guide you in learning how to design through plants with clarity, intention and a deeper understanding of the living landscape.
Held at my garden, Orcombe Farm, this experience is a complete journey through the creative and practical elements of designing a garden. Across two full days, we will explore how to truly see a garden, create flow and connection, design with plants, work with colour and seasonal change, bring a design together, and care for a garden as it continues to grow and evolve.
Over two full days, you’ll learn through the garden itself, with immersive garden walks, practical learning sessions, time for questions and conversation, and plenty of opportunities to observe and explore the principles we discuss in a living landscape.
We’ll share morning tea and lunch together, with relaxed time throughout the day to connect, ask questions and spend time in the garden. Each day will finish with a glass of wine and informal conversation as we reflect on what we’ve explored.
This is an invitation to slow down, observe more deeply and learn to see your garden differently, building the knowledge and confidence to create a garden that feels connected, cohesive and truly your own.
What you’ll gain
Across the two-day experience, you’ll learn practical, designer-led skills you can take home and apply directly to your own garden.
You will learn how to:
- see and understand your garden with greater clarity
- understand space, scale, proportion, light and connection
- create flow, balance and rhythm throughout your garden
- design with plants using form, shape, texture, colour and tone
- layer plants to create depth, structure and seasonal interest
- make clearer planting decisions without second guessing
- design a garden that evolves beautifully through all four seasons
- bring your ideas together into a cohesive garden vision
- understand the importance of healthy soil and a living garden
- care for your garden in a way that supports its natural rhythm and ongoing growth
You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how gardens are created, the confidence to approach your own garden with intention rather than uncertainty, and a new way of seeing the plants and spaces around you.
The two-day experience
Day One - Saturday 7th November
Seeing the Garden and Creating the Framework
We begin with an inspirational garden tour through Orcombe Farm before exploring how to truly see and understand a garden.
We’ll explore space, scale, proportion, light, climate and connection, before looking at how to create flow, balance and rhythm throughout a garden.
The day continues with an exploration of designing through plants — understanding form, shape, texture, structure and layering to create a cohesive and connected garden.
We’ll finish the day with relaxed time in the garden, a glass of wine and informal conversation.
Day Two - Sunday 8th November
Creating a Garden That Evolves Over Time
Day two explores colour, tone and the creation of a garden with year-round interest.
We’ll look at how to bring ideas together into a cohesive garden vision, make thoughtful planting decisions and design with the future growth and maturity of plants in mind.
We’ll finish by exploring the ongoing life of a garden — including seasonal care, soil health, water, biodiversity and how to create a healthy garden that continues to grow, change and evolve over time.
Because a garden is never truly finished. It is always changing, growing, evolving and becoming.
