About this event

7th and 8th grade female students are invited to the 202 Grow GatHERing, a one day empowerment summit where we will laugh, play, learn, and connect through engaging experiences and sessions on the topics of friendships, body image, boundaries, managing stress/ emotions, preparing for high school and beyond! REMINDERS FOR THE DAY OF THE EVENT:

  • Check in opens at 9:00am
  • Sessions will start promptly at 9:30 am.
  • Students will attend workshops of their choice that are designed to engage different learning styles and senses.
  • Pizza lunch will be provided and snacks will be available throughout the day. If your child has an aversion or allergy to pizza, please send them with a packed lunch.
  • Parent/Guardian Session begins at 2:15pm
  • Dismissal is at 3pm.

9:00 am- Check In

9:30am- Kick Off and keynote speaker - Latrese Kabuya

Latrese Kabuya is a Mental Health Advocate, and Television and Podcast Host whose work is driven by her passion to uplift and encourage women to Discover, Connect and Express the best version of themselves, the Real You! Latrese is a recognized empowerment speaker, coach, and media personality. She is the Founder of Let's Get P.R.E.T.T.Y.™. and It's All About You™. Latrese hosts her own Internet YouTube/Podcast Series, “Insights with Latrese,” where she engages on various topics about "real life, real you, real good". She was a “Fill In” TV Host on a local NBC television show and is currently a TV Segment Contributor on a CBS affiliate as a mental health advocate.

10:30am- Choose Your Path Workshops

Choose 2 out of 5 workshops focused on learning more about who you are and plant a succulent, self defense, self empowerment, your brain, the high school transition (recommended for 8th grade participants)

11:45am- Pizza and Free Time

12:30pm- Rotation Stations

These sessions are 30 minutes long and everyone will be attending these! These sessions focus on developing health coping mechanisms and self care, learning about how to use social media safely, and managing friendships in a healthy way!

2:15 pm- Laugh and Launch: This session brings all of the participants together to celebrate what we learned today and launch into the world empowered.

2:15pm- Parent/Guardian session

Hey Parents/Guardians, you too deserve support as you navigate mental health and wellness with your children. Join us for this engaging session from 2:15 to 3, where we'll spoil you with goodies and equip you with new language, knowledge and practical next steps to support your child(ren) as they grow!

3:00pm: Dismissal

Park Hill Community Alliance for Youth (CAFY) is a coalition of individuals and agencies working together to reduce substance use, promote mental health, and build resilience in Park Hill area youth. We are part of a regional and nationwide effort led by the CDC, known as Drug-Free Communities Program. CAFY implements strategies targeting local problems and developed the idea for this event based on the incredible increase in youth substance use that happens in 9th grade. Park Hill CAFY is a part of the Northland Prevention Network and receives support and technical assistance from Tri-County Mental Health Services.
