Subject: This collaborative and interactive workshop explores the pillars for group dynamics, theory, and practice inspired by Irvin Yalom. The training covers topics related to types of therapeutic groups, how to form therapy groups (i.e. screening process), strategies for marketing a group, and ends with strategies to support clients who hold marginalized identities.
Course Description: This course is geared toward any and all mental health or medical providers seeking to gain greater competencies related to practicing group therapy. This course will briefly discuss the theoretical underpinnings of group dynamics and practice. The course will provide helpful tips for forming different groups, screening participants for groups, managing group conflict, terminating groups, and marketing groups in a variety of settings. This course will conclude by discussing the benefits of group therapy for clients who hold marginalized identities as well as provide useful strategies to employ in group therapy.
You will also be eligible to earn 4.0 Continuing Education Credits if you hold a New York State License as an LMHC, LCSW, LMSW, LCAT, LMFT or Psychologist.
