About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Growing up is not an easy task for children and adding in grief can complicate the process even further. Children’s grief is often misunderstood and their expression of it is chalked up to poor behaviors that are often sought to be corrected before grief is considered as a potential factor. Join us for a look at the normal tasks of child development, how development impacts a child’s own understanding of grief, why it’s important to respond to their grief symptoms in a healthy and supportive way, and how that can move their physical, emotional, and mental health forward.

Objectives:

**Participants will identify healthy and developmentally supportive ways to respond to children’s grief symptoms.

**Participants will describe common struggles that caregivers often face in parenting grieving children.

**Participants will explain ways to promote positive coping and build resilience within themselves and their family units.

Presented by: Lendy Chapman, M.S., CCLS, Blue Butterfly Grief Educator
