Frequently asked questions

Is this FASD training?

No, the roadshow is not a substitute for FASD training. It is a brief introduction to FASD for those wanting to know more or understand how FASD may be relevant to their role. The Greater Manchester FASD Network's mission is to connect people across GM who have a role in supporting those with FASD.

What is FASD?

FASD results when prenatal alcohol exposure affects the developing brain and body. FASD is a spectrum. Each person with FASD is affected differently. While more than 400 conditions can co-occur, FASD is at its core a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition. More people have FASD than autism.

Why is this important for people working in the education sector?

Many of the children and young people you work with will have FASD or undiagnosed FASD. They're often those for whom typical interventions are not working. This taster session will help you understand more about FASD and provide a brief insight on how best to support individuals with FASD.
