Description
Join "Ghosts of Salem: Haunts of the Witch City" author Sam Baltrusis on his "Graveyard Getaways" jaunt through historic Salem. The event will start at Bit Bar Salem, which had a past life as Salem's old jail. According to psychics who have visited, there is a lingering energy from the building’s old jail days.
Led by author Sam Baltrusis who was recently featured on Destination America's "Haunted Towns" and the Travel Channel's "Haunted USA," the "Graveyard Getaways" event will visit two allegedly haunted cemeteries in Salem, including Howard Street and the famed Burying Point on Charter Street. The event will serve as material for the author's new "13 Most Haunted" book on haunted cemeteries.
Ticket is good for lunch at Salem's former jail and entrance to a historic property on Essex Street. Limit to 13 people.
Here's the rundown:
2-3 p.m. Lunch at Salem former prison, Bit Bar Salem
3-3:30 p.m. Visit to Howard Street Cemetery
3:30-4:30 p.m. Tour of a historic property in Salem (tbd)
4:30-5 p.m. Visit to Witch Trials Memorial and the Burying Point on Charter Street
5-6p.m. Wrap up and walking tour of Salem.
Known for its annual Halloween “Haunted Happenings” gathering, it’s no surprise that the historic Massachusetts seaport’s blood-stained history has often been overshadowed by the witch trials of 1692 and sensationalized by pop culture.
There will be a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
