Grants 102: Certification Program

Tuesday, April 30 and Tuesday, May 7, 2019

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Grants 102 builds upon the content of Grants 101 to focus exclusively on preparing a successful grant proposal. This 2-day seminar is designed for those who have little or no grant writing experience. Through a series of mini-lectures and in-class writing activities, participants will each prepare an outline of a grant proposal for a project of their choice. During the 2-day seminar, participants will receive individualized feedback on their grant outline.

To receive certification, participants will be required to attend both sessions (April 30, 2019 and May 7, 2019), successfully complete an online exam, and submit a completed grant proposal outline.

Program topics include:

  • Understanding the components and characteristics of successful grant proposals
  • Writing Exercises: Statement of Need, Program Description, Program Evaluation, Organizational Background, and Budget

Learning Outcomes - Participants will:

  • Develop the content for a competitive grant proposal
  • Prepare a grant proposal outline and budget

Prerequisite: Grants 101 (or other introductory grants seminar)

Note: Grants 102 does not address grant writing for academic research grants.
