About this event

  • 3 hours 30 minutes

Do you think you're funny? Always wanted to be onstage but too scared? Maybe you dream of being a comedian but feel the scene seems too much like a cishet boys’ club? Do you yearn to learn the art of comedy in an inclusive environment?

WELL, DO WE HAVE A WORKSHOP FOR YOU!

GRAB THE MIC is a beginners comedy workshop tailored for LGBTQ people. Over the course of 3.5 hours, you'll learn the basics of stand-up comedy, from writing jokes and creating sets to getting over stage fright and telling jokes onstage. We will discuss navigating identity and safety on the comedy stage and study the jokes and routines of LGBTQ comics to understand different ways of using humour to talk about their experiences as LGBTQ people and entertainers.

NO PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
