Gowanus Tree Network Info Session

Gowanus Canal Conservancyis dedicated to facilitating the development of a resilient, vibrant, open space network centered on the Gowanus Canal through activating and empowering community stewardship of the Gowanus Watershed. Since 2006, we have served as the environmental steward for the neighborhood through leading grassroots volunteer projects; educating students on environmental issues; and working with agencies, elected officials, and the community to advocate for, build, and maintain innovative green infrastructure around the Gowanus Canal.

Come learn about the Gowanus Tree Network!
The Gowanus Canal Conservancy and The Nature Conservancy are building the Gowanus Tree Network, a community of representatives from different blocks to come together to steward the urban trees of Gowanus!
Attend this kick-off info session to:
- Learn the Gowanus Tree Network and how to apply
- Meet other community members with an interest in trees and stewardship
- Voice your ideas about greening Gowanus!
 
The Gowanus Tree Network will establish contact between select blocks in Gowanus and provide them with training and resources to steward their street trees. Select blocks will have representatives enroll in an NYC Trees certification course, host stewardship events, and will be provided with planting materials. Chosen blocks will also enter the Greenest Block in Brooklyn competition hosted by Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, with guidance from horticulture professionals.
