Event description
Local favorites The Fremonts and the Dust Bowl Faeries will serenade you with gothic love songs and dark cabaret tunes.

About this event

Join us for this special double-bill valentines evening with The Fremonts and the Dust Bowl Faeries!

Born in New York City and raised in Boulder, CO, The Fremonts create unique theatrical experiences for their audiences by blending Americana music and storytelling with a cabaret aesthetic. Stephanie Dodd (originally from Fremont, Nebraska – vocals/accordion) and Justin Badger (originally from Fremont, California – vocals/guitar) present their original music with performance skills honed from years of working as professional actors.

-----

A faerie-tale fusion of dark cabaret, gothic polka and post-punk music, Dust Bowl Faeries are a dark-carnival band from the New York Hudson Valley. The band's eclectic repertoire of songs draw inspiration from circus songs, murder ballads and Eastern European folk music. Accordion, singing saw, acoustic guitar, lap-steel, and bass combine to create the Dust Bowl Faeries otherworldly sound.

The band was founded by Ryder Cooley (faerie queen) and her taxidermy spirit animal Hazel the Ram. Ryder and Hazel are joined by Jon B. Woodin (rocket faerie), Liz LoGiudice (river faerie), Andrew Stein (time faerie) & Rubie LaRue (feisty faerie). Dust Bowl Faeries released their recent album, The Plague Garden, in 2020. Previously, they released two EP's and a self titled debut album, produced by music critic Seth Rogovoy, featuring Tommy Stinson (Replacements) & Melora Creager (Rasputina).

They will be performing as a quartet for the evening.

Organizer The Foundry

Organizer of Gothic Valentines Cabaret

Built in 1994 as a glass blowing studio, the building’s name references its roots. Now the venue produces theater, music, comedy, spoken word, educational workshops and more, providing a safe place to create dangerous work. Work that counteracts the passive, the isolating, the distance between people. Come experience joyful creation, partake in brave exploration, meet the person sitting next to you, share about what you’re seeing, buy them a drink. Our goal is to present relevant performing and visual art that is accessible for diverse audiences; art that connects and inspires us, and incites us to leap across cultural boundaries. The Foundry is a holding tank for raw, funny, challenging, empowering work that changes the lens through which we view each other.
