Gorge Discovery Center

The online ticket sales have ended. You can register on the day of the ride, June 18, 2022. Registration opens at 7 Am and closes at 10 Am at the Discovery Center in The Dalles, Oregon, exit 82 on I-84.

The annual  Gorge Ride sponsored by the Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway will beheld on June 18th this year. Beginning at the <a href="http://www.gorgediscovery.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Gorge Discovery Center</a>, 5000 Discovery Drive, in The Dalles, Oregon.  It extends 19.25 miles along the historic highway and State Trail west to the <a href="http://oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?do=parkPage.dsp_parkPage&amp;parkId=113" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Senator Mark O. Hatfield West Trailhead</a>, just east of Hood River.The terrain really isn’t as tough as it looks on this elevation profile -- the HCRH was built with no grades exceeding 5%.   When you encounter a hill, just ‘gear down’, take it one pedal stroke at a time, and remember that it’s taking you to a view even nicer than the ones on the way up!  The variety of scenery is amazing!This route is a combination of historic highway that is open to motor vehicles, with very low traffic, and the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zL2FRylfNvw&amp;noredirect=1" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">HCRH State Trail</a> that is open only to hikers and bicyclists.  It's an out and back route of 38.5 miles.  This ride is supported with water stops, snacks, mechanical support and SAG wagons. ---- We Hope To See You There ! ----Online registration will close at 11:59 PM, Monday, June 13 with a non-refundable, online, advance registration fee per rider: Ages 12 &amp; up = $45. Ages 6-11 = $15. Under 6 are free. Add $10/rider for day-of-event registration. Online registration is the only advance registration method.Each participant will receive a raffle ticket; winners will be able to choose from items donated by Double Mountain Brewery and Oregon E-Bikes.  In addition, participants that complete a survey at the end of the ride will be entered into a drawing for a jacket from Showers Pass.  Blue Bell ice cream and fruit bars will be available at the finish line.A sack lunch from the Basalt Rock Café, within the Gorge Discovery Center, will be available for purchase during on-line registration for $14.  The cutoff for Sack Lunch orders is 11:59 pm on 6/9/22. Lunches may be picked up 11 AM til 4 PM on June 18th.This Year&#x27;s t-shirt is True Red . A very nice, Hi-tech, wicking fabric. 100% polyester T-shirts (men&#x27;s &amp; women&#x27;s styles) featuring Gorge Ride graphics are available for purchase during on-line registration for $25 as a special order item. (The women&#x27;s version of this shirt has a gently contoured silhouette and a slight scoop neck.)Pick up your shirt order on the day of the ride when you pick up your packet. Packet pickup will be at the Gorge Discovery Center on June 18th from 7 AM to 10 AM.  The cutoff for T-shirt orders is 11:59 pm on 6/6/22. Course opens at 7 AM and closes at 4 PM.  Participants will be required to sign our waiver and release form on line or at packet pickup.  Riders under 18 years-of-age must be accompanied on the ride by a registered adult and their waiver and release form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. <a href="http://www.bhsi.org/standard.htm" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Participants must wear a CPSC/ATSM/ ANSI/Snell approved helmet</a>.  (Note: If your helmet is more than 5 years old, you really should replace it.)
