IT’S HAPPENING AGAIN!

The Sammamish ’74 50th Reunion Golf Tournament

Thursday August 1st, 2024

Blue Heron Golf Course

1810 W Snoqualmie River Rd NE, Carnation WA 98014

$95 pp includes golf/cart/lunch/prizes and FUN!

Get your Sammamish ’74 friends together, get your clubs out (or dusted off) and get out to the beautiful Blue Heron golf course and join more of your 1974 Sammamish High classmates for a round of fun reuniting with friends from a bygone era.

It doesn’t matter if you are a scratch golfer or a fair-weather duffer. It’s going to be a scramble, best ball tournament where everyone can win. You could even buy a few mulligans! 😊

There will be prizes for the longest drive, closest to the pin and others like the wackiest golf outfit or most lost balls.

Tee off is at 9:30 so we can enjoy the round of shenanigans and then have lunch and beverages in the club house right after including the “awards” ceremony. Of course, there will also be a beverage cart on the course!

We all enjoyed the 40th golf tournament but we’d love to see a lot more women out this year. Times have changed and lots more women are golfing, especially in retirement – Come join us. It will be a party! Spouses are welcome.

If you have a foursome you want to golf with all the better!

GO TOTEMS!

Frequently asked questions

Can I come and not play golf?

Absolutely! You can come by at the end and eat lunch with the group for the vastly reduced entry fee of $20, or you could volunteer to monitor a hole or help set up. You get to see everyone as they go through your area and there's plenty of time to have some laughs with each group.

I've only golfed a few times, will I embarrass myself?

Of course.......not! Nobody is a great golfer and our Team Scramble format will let you have fun and if you make one good shot, you'll probably be a hero.

What's a Scramble Format, some kind of breakfast?

Scramble Format is where everyone tees up and hits their ball. Everybody decides which shot they like the best and everyone picks up their ball, except for the great down-the-middle shot, and everyone plays from there, or within a few inches of its resting place. This is repeated until done.

What the heck is a "Shotgun Start"? Anything like the wedding?

NO, no, nononononono no. A Shotgun Start is where we all go out to different holes assigned by the starter and they shoot off a shotgun so everyone can hear it even on the holes that are way far away, and know it's time to begin. Basically, it means we all start and finish at the same time.

Can I bring my Shotgun?

NO! They may not even use a shotgun. It could be a dinner bell, an airhorn for your sailing enthusiasts, or a cowbell. You could bring your own cowbell, but use it wisely.

Is there a practice range?

Yes, Blue Heron has a nice practice range and it's another chance to visit before the start.

Do I need golf shoes?

Not on a nice day, running shoes, tennis shoes all work. If it's damp, you'll be happier if you have golf shoes, but no, you don't have to have golf shoes.

Who invented golf?

Some crazy masochists in IScotland that found all sports much to easy. So they invented golf.

Is Blue Heron a difficult course?

No! And we'll be starting play from the respective tees that make it even easier. This is about the company of your classmates, a little good natured kidding thrown in and lunch with everyone in the same room.

Do I need my own clubs?

Blue Heron will rent you clubs, but you'll want to reserve them early as they may have a limited supply.

Is the bar nice?

Yes, it's awesome and if the weather cooperates their deck is superb and huge. And it will be August sooooooo......yes and yes.
