Going Full-Time Creative

Department of Creative PursuitsDenver, CO
Saturday, Feb 21 from 5:30 pm to 7 pm MST
Overview

From warehouse worker to studio owner, Keese gives insight into what it takes to make a living doing creative.

Event Overview

Building a full-time creative life is something alot of us would kill for.

In this workshop Keese gives insight into what it actually takes to make creativity your primary source of income. Founder of Race You Home, an independent video production company, and co-founder of the Department of Creative Pursuits, he provides his real world experience of graduating from the University of Colorado, to getting a felony, working in warehouses, and now owning a video production company and trying to create a community.

This session isn’t about motivational speaking, it's about being honest with yourself to see if a life of full time creative work is even for you.

We’ll talk through:

  • Keese's story and how you could apply his losses and wins to your own career
  • how to think about stability and financial reality of a creative life
  • practical frameworks to help you stay organized
  • how to stay consistent enough to build something lasting

The goal isn’t to convince anyone to quit their job.
The goal is clarity on how to approach your next steps in the creative field.

Who This Is For

  • Creatives considering making the leap to full time
  • Full-time creatives still trying to find consistency or stability
  • Freelancers, artists, filmmakers, photographers, designers, and independent operators
  • Anyone serious about building a sustainable creative life
