About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join Melbourne Beach-glass artist, Delynn Ellis, for a Make-Your-Own-Turtle class 11am-12:30pm, at the Barrier Island Sanctuary. Material cost is $25. Cash will be collected day of class. Students pick their own colors and design a fused glass turtle, size 3.25” x 4”.

Students will learn the process of cast glass fusing, which is the art of making a design with glass through a process of using extreme temperatures to melt two or more pieces of glass together into the shape of a turtle. Learn the fundamentals of cutting and designing with colorful art glass. No experience is necessary. All ages are welcome including children if an adult is also participating.

The student’s creations will be fired in a kiln at another location and will be available for pick-up at the Sanctuary or pre-paid shipping the following week.

You can choose to add onto your turtle by turning it into an ornament, garden stake, napkin weight, or framed art. Optional supplies for these enhancements can be purchased in class. Space is limited to 20 students. For more information contact delynnellis@mac.com.
