Glass Marble Workshop

Glass Marble Workshop

Angels Gate Cultural Center, Classroom GLos Angeles, CA
Saturday, Apr 4 from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Overview

Create unique and colorful glass marbles using a gas torch. Add colored glass to create spirals, miniature planets, galaxies, or patterns.

Glass marbles hold a fascination for young and old, and are a popular item for art collectors. We will use gas torches to melt crystal clear borosilicate class and add color to create unique patterns and special effects. Instruction will be provided on safety, how to work with hot glass, add color, and shape it into a perfect sphere 0.5-1" in size. Your marbles will be annealed in a kiln after class and be ready for you to pick up in about a week.

Your instructor, Steve Bay, is a glass artist that creates sculpture and jewelry using flameworking and fusing (@stevebayglass). Steve applies his marine biology background to capture the beauty and remarkable design of nature in his art. Class size is limited to six persons to ensure personal attention from the instructor. Participants must be at least 14 years of age. For safety, please wear only cotton clothing, long pants, and closed toe shoes during the class. Long hair should be secured away from the face. All supplies and materials will be provided. Questions? Contact Steve at burnedfingers18@gmail.com
