Overview

An exciting opportunity to experience the ancient art of Lampworking - the art of making beads by melting glass over a propane/oxygen torch.

Where: Whithorn, Dumfries and Galloway

Time: Sessions start at 10.30am til 12.30. Break.for.lunch 40mins. The afternoon session is from 1.10pm till 3.10pm

Heidi Hunt is an experienced local lampwork artist from the Mull of Galloway who recently exhibited her work replicating historical beads during Spring Fling 2026. She will share her love of Anglo-Saxon and Viking Age medieval beads, and participants will be learning how to make their own beads in our Smiddy Workshop.

Sessions start at 10.30am til 12.30. Break.for.lunch 40mins. The afternoon session is from 1.10pm till 3.10pm. All materials provided and refreshments. You should be willing to work with flame and have a degree of manual dexterity. Our workshop is on ground level but off a narrow lane, so that parking (except disabled) will be on the nearby street.
