Description

Program objectives include: describe the advance directives process; discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of advance directives; learn strategies to identify goals, fears and concerns about end-of-life; develop a basic understanding of the benefits and burdens of treatment options and when to refer to other professionals for guidance; understand how to select an appropriate healthcare agent. Advance directives are written, legal instructions regarding your preference for medical care if you are unable to make decisions for yourself. Advance directives aren't just for older adults. Unexpected, end-of-life situations can happen at any age, so it's important for all adults to be prepared with proper documents. We all can benefit from getting our "house in order" when planning for the future. Workshop participants will receive a complimentary "House in Order" book (providing one location for medical history, estate and financial information, funeral plans and advance directives). By making your wishes known, your loved ones can feel more comfortable with your chosen course of care.

This event meets in the Emerald Room. Parking is available in the free garages at the Admitting Entrance (Fulton HS side of campus off St. Mary Street).
