Event description
This intro to Canadian government prepares residents to start engaging with your government and community around issues you care about

About this Event

Concerned about issues affecting you and your community, and want the government to pay attention? Not sure how to start? Join us for Getting to Know Your Government, an intro workshop. We’ll learn about the roles of each level of government in Canada; how we elect them; and how we can impact policies. Through games and sharing stories, we’ll discover the many ways Parkdale residents participate in our democracy, from voting to protesting. You’ll leave with a basic understanding of Canada’s Federal, Provincial, Municipal (City) and Indigenous governments, and your own plan for a first step to start engaging with the government around an issue you care about.

This event is funded by a Neighbourhood Grant from the City of Toronto. It is co-organized by Parkdale People's Economy, Parkdale Free School, and West Neighbourhood House.
