Getting started with Scratch (Mount Isa)

The Computer Science Education Research Group (CSER), based at the University of Adelaide in the School of Computer Science is home to the CSER Digital Technologies MOOC program, through which we provide open, free online and face to face professional learning in Digital Technologies for Australian teachers.

The University of Adelaide's CSER Group offers free support to schools in the implementation of the Digital Technologies Curriculum. These workshops are designed to explore the Digital Technologies curriculum for teachers of  Prep – Year 6, using the CSER resources.

Getting Started with Scratch!
Scratch has proven to be a popular tool for teaching Digital Technologies and coding in the classroom. It allows teachers to develop students' programming skills through a child-friendly visual programming platform. Scratch can be used for creating games, animations, interactive stories and more!
This workshop is suited to teachers who are new to scratch and would like to know more about how to get started. No previous experience is necessary. You will gain the skills and the confidence to start using this effective resource in your classroom.
 
This workshop will include support for regsitering for the CSER MOOC course. The CSER Digital Technologies MOOCs (Massively Open Online Courses) are free online courses, designed to support Australian teachers with implementing the Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies.
These are free online courses that provide teachers with background knowledge about concepts and topics in the curriculum, as well as practical examples that can be tried in the classroom. No prior knowledge necessary. We bring together existing resources, our own developed resources as well as existing teacher ideas.
Please bring along a laptop. You will also require a Google account to register for the MOOC.
