Event description

Description

We learn by playing since we are born. Why not learn by playing in academic classrooms? This workshop will suggest how to design your first role-play simulation. Simulations can make learning efficient and fun, both for the faculty and students. In simulations, students have an opportunity to step into the shoes of leaders, decision-makers and ordinary people in the past, present or imagined future. They face dilemmas and learn to negotiate and make decisions. This way simulations allow applying abstract theoretical concepts and learning the material to the real world. While using simulations for the first time may be intimidating for the faculty, the workshop will focus on simple and brief simulations that can be easily implemented in the class.

This event is part of the CTL series Next-Level Teaching and is best for instructors with some experience with active learning techniques.
