Matrix training is one of the most efficient tools in the behavior analytic toolkit for getting learning to generalize well beyond what you directly teach, and it is underused in practice. In this session, Dr. Sarah Frampton walks through recent applications of matrix training to teach complex tacts to children with ASD. You will leave with a clear understanding of the underlying principles, the key steps to set up a matrix arrangement, and practical troubleshooting strategies for when things do not go as planned. Her research focuses on teaching new skills to learners with and without disabilities, and she has been recognized with the Excellence in Behavior Analytic Research Award from Simmons University, the Early Career Researcher Award from the Verbal Behavior SIG, and the Researcher of the Year Award from the Language and Learning Clinic at Marcus Autism Center.
