Get Out and Write

This writing group will meet every other Sunday morning from 9:00–11:00 AM at Mission Coffee and Tea in Chandler to work on our individual writing projects.

We’ll keep the format simple:

• First 15 minutes: Introductions and getting settled
• Next 90 minutes: Quiet, focused writing time
• Last 15 minutes: Optional sharing about our progress, challenges, questions, or anything related to writing and publishing

I began writing my first novel about a year and a half ago—a sci-fi/fantasy modern myth (it’s complicated, lol), and I’ve found that writing groups really help me stay motivated and accountable. I created this group because I’d love to have that same support on a regular basis while providing it for other writers too.

Plus, it’s simply more fun to get out of the house, grab some coffee, and write alongside other people who are working toward similar goals.

All writers are welcome, regardless of experience level, genre, or where you are in your project. You can bring a novel, short story, poetry, memoir, journal, screenplay, nonfiction project, or anything else you’re working on. There is no requirement to share your writing.

Location

We’ll meet at Mission Coffee House in Chandler, where I’ll reserve the loft seating area specifically for our group.

The reservation costs $15, which I will cover. There is no fee to attend, although optional contributions toward the room reservation are always appreciated.

Also, I kindly request that you make a purchase to support Mission Coffee and Tea. I am not affiliated with this business, but I do want to create a postive supportive relationship with the business so that we can consistently secure this space for future events.

Accessibility

Please note that the loft is accessible only by stairs and is not wheelchair accessible. If you would like to participate but the loft is not accessible for you, please contact me. I would be happy to work on finding an alternative space that allows you to join us.

Space

I plan to keep registration relatively small so everyone has a comfortable place to write. The loft can accommodate approximately 15–20 people. If registration is full but you would still like to attend, please contact me and I’ll let you know whether additional seating is available.

Occasionally Online

Meetings are typically held in person at Mission Coffee House. Occasionally, a session may be held online instead; members will be notified in advance.

My hope is that this becomes a safe, relaxed, supportive group where we can make progress, stay accountable, meet other writers, and enjoy the process together.
