Get ready for a special Juneteenth Celebration with the ‘Get Free Collective’ featuring acclaimed poet and scholar Naomi Extra and drummer and activist Jerome Jennings. Live jazz and poetry, open mic + special guests. Free food. Resources. Good vibes.
The GET FREE COLLECTIVE is a jazz, hip hop, and creative music band co-founded by poet Naomi Extra and drummer Jerome Jennings in 2020. The collective is comprised of a shifting array of artists--singers, poets, dancers, musicians--who perform together and participate in the exchange of intellectual and creative ideas. They use the stage as a site of consciousness-raising, social justice imagining, and as a space to challenge the limits of language and sound work.
