Yampa Valley Sustainability Council (YVSC) is a nonprofit organization based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, that fosters and maintains sustainable practices in the Yampa Valley region.Our mission is to be a resource and catalyst for building a sustainable community in the Yampa Valley region.Through programs, partnerships and education, we strive to bring science, technology and policy research into the service of community decision-making processes and action. We centralize community values and needs in all we do to ensure that the model of sustainability and resilience we work towards both supports and capitalizes on the unique cultural and natural heritage of the Yampa Valley.

Y﻿VSC is hosting a community geothermal educational presentation on Wednesday, May 17 at the Bud Werner Library Hall.

<p>Geothermal energy will play a key role in the energy transition of the Yampa Valley. Our expert speakers include Matt Sares, Chief Hydrogeology Section, Colorado Division of Water Resources who will address geothermal regulations including ground-water protection.</p><p>Dr. Paul Morgan, Senior Geothermal Geologist at the Colorado Geological Survey and faculty member of the Colorado School of Mines Center for Space Resources, will discuss the geology of Steamboat Springs and Geothermal Energy Office will present on Colorado&#x27;s geothermal energy vision and funding opportunities for geothermal energy. Former Governor Bill Ritter of the Center for the New Energy Economy will moderate this event.</p>
