About this event

The Classes of 1974 (Fall '73, Spring '74 & Fall '74) will hold their fifty-year reunion on Saturday, June 8, 2024. This date is coincidentally the exact 50-year anniversary of S'74's graduation from the GWHS football field.
The Basque is easy to get to from all points in the Bay Area. We'll be in the large banquet room. Parking at the Basque is plentiful and free.
Tickets include complete dinner (salad, roll & butter, entree with sides, dessert to be determined, coffee or tea) with your choice of four entrees. No-host bar. First thirty tickets were $95, remaining tickets are $125. No refunds! Deadline is May 24 and there are NO door sales! Tickets will NOT be mailed, your Eventbrite email is your receipt. Want to mail a check? Contact us at gwhs.sf.1974@gmail.com
Attire business casual or better, no offensive t-shirts, no ripped jeans. Dancing with DJ Gordon, photobooth, special guest S'74 sponsor Irving Shapiro, cash bar, and who knows what else. We'll also take a group photo at 6:50pm so don't be late!
Friday campus tour to be scheduled, possible mixer after and possible Sunday activities, all optional. Visit https://sites.google.com/view/gwhs-sf-1974/1974-home for updates and additional information.
Looking forward to seeing you - Tammy, Nancy, Fabian & Kerry
Frequently asked questions
The Basque is at 599 Railroad Ave., South San Francisco, an easy drive from anywhere in the Bay Area. It is THE go-to place for school reunions and community events, including the GWHS Athletic Hall of Fame and S.F. Prep Hall of Fame inductions. Everything is on ground level, easy to access.
Since the Irish Cultural Center's kitchen closed (now need a caterer) and Patio Espanol shut, the only reasonable S.F. venue left is the Italian Athletic Club in North Beach with NO on-site parking and mobility issues. Hotels and golf clubs are out of the question unless we charge $200+/person.
Salmon in Champagne sauce w/rice & vegetables; Breast of Chicken Chasseur w/rice & vegetables; Veal Roast Au Jus w/scalloped potatoes & vegetables (Prime rib & NY steaks aren't as good); Vegetarian - pasta w/red sauce & vegetables. All w/salad, large roll w/butter, coffee/tea. Dessert TBD.
Yes, the fourth entree choice listed is vegetarian. It is a bowl of pasta with red sauce. See photo of this entree on our website.
Parking at the Basque is plentiful and free! It's also accessible via SamTrans routes 37, 130 and 141, and a short distance from Caltrain South San Francisco station and BART San Bruno station.
We are all at the age considered higher risk. Should mask mandates be reinstated, we will enforce per mandate. A 50-year reunion requires an indoor venue, so if you have concerns we strongly recommend you keep up on vaccinations and even if not mandated bring and wear a KN95 mask except when eating.
We will schedule a campus tour on Friday, time to be determined. There may be a casual meet-up Friday evening and maybe something on Sunday. Our website (see below) will be updated to reflect any additional activities.
You don't have to bring anyone if you don't want to. That said, you're welcome to purchase a ticket for your spouse/significant other and/or adult child. Service animals are welcome, no ticket required...but not emotional support peacocks.
Have you contacted them to ask if they're coming? If not, do it! Call, text, email, tag them on social media. We attempt to reach as many as possible, but maybe they didn't get our save-the-date card, or we don't have their email. Word of mouth is the best way to ensure your friends will be there.
What are you, six years old? Just come, and deal with it!
Reconciling with your past is a key to your wellness. Reconciliation doesn't mean "everything is all right" and you're going to clasp hands and sing Kumbaya. Read this article for more insights: https://getpocket.com/explore/item/forgiving-people-is-good-for-your-health-here-s-how-to-do-it
Your presence will prove that you are a survivor. Even if you weren't social, there will be some people who remember you. And you may be surprised in talking to others that your experiences weren't that different. No attendee was sorry they came, but people who didn't come were sorry they didn't.
