Monadnock International Film Festival, Monadnock Food Co-op, and Monadnock Farm and Community Coalition invite you to join us for this virtual community screening and post-film discussion!GATHER is a documentary that traces the intentional destruction of Native American foodways and the renaissance to reclaim indigenous agriculture and food systems.Featuring the work of First Nation’s Native Agriculture and Food Systems Initiative, GATHER highlights tribes and Native communities as they build sustainable foodways that improve health, strengthen food security and increase control over Native agriculture and food systems. GATHER follows Nephi Craig, a chef from the White Mountain Apache Nation (Arizona), opening an indigenous café as a nutritional recovery clinic; Elsie Dubray, a young scientist from the Cheyenne River Sioux Nation (South Dakota), conducting landmark studies on bison; and the Ancestral Guard, a group of environmental activists from the Yurok Nation (Northern California), trying to save the Klamath River: <a href="https://gather.film/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">gather.film</a>. “Fighting for water rights and fighting for hunting rights, and maintaining our food ways is our own battle to fight for our human rights. “ - Nephi Craig, Gather &quot;The food sovereignty movement has so many powerful stories that needed to be told from the community perspective,&quot; said Michael E. She is also an author and the Founder &amp; CEO of Ibis Communications and Global Diversity Leadership Exchange, and the Co-Founder of J.E.D.I. Collaborative. Suitable for all audiences. This film features original music by Raye Zaragoza, an award-winning singer-songwriter.ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: Sanjay Rawal spent 15 years working on human rights campaigns globally. Sanjay’s first feature, Food Chains (2014), was produced by Eva Longoria and Eric Schlosser with narration by Forest Whitaker. The film won numerous awards, was released theatrically in 40 cities by Screen Media, and was acquired by Netflix. Sanjay’s second effort took a sharp turn into non-traditional filmmaking. Applying narrative cinematic technique, Sanjay directed a sweeping expedition film. 3100: Run And Become was released theatrically in the US in 20 markets last fall.Sanjay’s work has been supported by Ford, Bertha, BritDoc, Fledgling, 11th Hour Project, NoVo, and the Omidyar Network. His work has won an assortment of honors include a James Beard Media Award.
