Garden Games Workshop Series: Sew a Kite

Clear skies, sunny days, warm temps—it’s time to get outside. Get ready for summer with the Maryland Science Center’s Garden Games Workshop Series. This June, we’ll focus on constructing two well-loved outdoor activities. Each workshop will be hands-on and include instruction, supplies, and a related project. Participants will leave with a new skill set and a completed piece.

Take your sewing skills to the next level and create your very own kite. This workshop will explore following a pattern and using grommets, as well as different ways of making seams. Once completed, participants will have the opportunity to fly their kites outside (weather permitting).

Sewing machines and supplies are included in the cost of the workshop. Cost is $15 per person. There is no member discount for our workshop programs. Two participants can share a sewing machine and create a kite together, if desired. Please indicate on the registration page if you want your own machine, or if you will be sharing. If sharing, both participants must pay. The workshop is designed for ages 10 and up, anyone under 16 must participate with an adult. Advance registration and payment required.
