Ira Brionesdivides their time between running Chibundle — their recently-founded Filipino food subscription box startup, volunteering for the Asian sub-group of PFLAG NYC, and dancing with Brooklyn-based Filipino arts education collective Sining Kapuluan. Prior to moving to New York in 2014 for graduate school at NYU, Ira lived in Manila and worked with communities and organizations in the Philippines and in the Asia-Pacific region on sexual and gender minority issues, including projects with United Nations agencies and the World Health Organization.Laura Cabochan, born and raised in the Philippines is currently a New York-based social practice artist and educator. She works with different communities to make spaces for fellowship and civic engagement through the arts. She completed her MA in Applied Theatre under a Philippine Fulbright scholarship in the City University of New York. At the moment, Laura is a Steinhardt fellow and is working on completing her PhD in Educational Theatre in New York University.Rocco Sabalones Ceterais an amateur photographer, he is a licensed civil engineer and professional project manager working in the public sector. He was born and raised in New York City.Claro de los Reyesis an actor and a social practice theatre & film artist who creates work to further build community, encourage cross- cultural dialogue, and highlight & explore underrepresented histories.  Inclusion and Accessibility are underpinning values in his work and he is particularly interested in creating work in public spaces and alternative/ non-traditional venues. He is the founder and director of Atlantic Pacific Theatre, a Brooklyn-based social practice theatre company that aims to enhance the public’s understanding, empathy, and awareness of the Asian Pacific diaspora in local, transnational, and cross-cultural contexts.Xenia Dienteis a Queens based public art administrator who works with emerging to establishedvisual artists to plan, design, fabricate and install projects citywide in civic buildings and infrastructure.  She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in 1999. Xenia believes in strengthening opportunities for artists and designers to creatively address NYC’s adaptive challenges.Kiran Pizarro Mansukhani(he/his) is a mixed Filipino/Indian aspiring academic from New York City. This summer, he was a volunteer teacher with the Save Our Schools network at a Lumad Bakwit school. He has roots in Davao, Iligan, and Dumaguete, as well as Bangalore, India. He considers Mindanao a second home, and is always happy to share Mindanaoan music, dance, and karaoke bar memories.Will Simbolloves the depth of understanding and connectedness that music allows us to have, and he’d love to play with you, too.Jacob Walse-Domínguezis a New-York based cultural practitioner who focuses on the Kulintang tradition of Southern Philippines & the Pangalay dance tradition of the Sama-Tausug group. His forays into cultural preservation began as an immigrant to the Bay Area as a way to connect to his culture's Pre-Hispanic heritage. He is primarily a poet and a teacher of English and Literature.Sining Kapuluan(Tagalog: Arts of the Archipelago) is an educational cultural/arts group based in Brooklyn, NY. Through learning indigenous rituals, practices, music, and dance, we aim to connect the Filipino-American community to the different indigenous and minority groups in the Philippines. Roosevelt Avenue, from 63rd Street to 71st Street, is known as Little Manila for its large concentration of Philippine residents and businesses. Gallivanting! creatively explores connections through a one-mile walking tour of sites, sound, food, music, dance and discussions that seek to link Little Manila from its roots from the Philippines, its context in the American Immigrant experience, and its ongoing dialogue with its neighboring businesses from South Asia and Latin America.

Location: Triangle at 65th Street and Roosevelt Avenue,
