Gallery Talk: ‘Making a ‘Second Volume’’ with Irushi Tennekoon, Sumedha Kelegama, and Sumudu Athukorala

Sharmini Pereira, Chief Curator at the MMCA Sri Lanka, speaks to artists Irushi Tenekoon (b. 1989), Sumedha Kelegama (b. 1988), and Sumudu Athukorala (b. 1980) about the museum's upcoming research publication ‘Second Volume: The Watapuluwa Housing Scheme by Minnette De Silva’. The publication includes the transcript of the artists’ animated documentary ‘is this an architectural documentary?’ (2023) which is currently on view in ‘88 Acres’.&nbsp;This Gallery Talk has been curated as part of the Public Programmes of the exhibition&nbsp; ‘88 Acres: The Watapuluwa Housing Scheme by Minnette De Silva’, on view until 7 July 2024. ‘දෙවැනි වෙළුම: මිනෙට් ද සිල්වා විසින් කළ වටපුළුව නිවාස යෝජනා ක්‍රමය’ නම් කෞතුකාගාරයේ ඉදිරි පර්යේෂණ ප්‍රකාශනය පිළිබඳව MMCA ශ්‍රී ලංකාහි ප්‍රධාන අභිරක්ෂක ශාර්මිණී පෙරේයිරා, කලාකරුවන් වන ඉරුෂි තෙන්නකෝන් (උ. 1989), සුමේධ කැලේගම (උ. 1988), හා සුමුදු අතුකෝරල (උ. 1980) සමඟ කතා කරයි. ‘අක්කර 88’ ප්‍රදර්ශනයේ දැන් සංදර්ශිත ‘is this an architectural documentary?’ (2023) නම් ඔවුන්ගේ සජීවීකෘත වාර්තා චිත්‍රපටයෙහි පිටපත මෙම ප්‍රකාශනයේ ඇතුළත් ය.මෙම ගැලරි කතාව 2024 ජූලි 7 දක්වා නැරඹීමට ඇති ‘අක්කර 88: මිනෙට් ද සිල්වා විසින් කළ වටපුළුව නිවාස යෝජනා ක්‍රමය’ ප්‍රදර්ශනයේ මහජන වැඩසටහන්වල කොටසක් වෙයි. அருங்காட்சியகம் வெளியிடப்போகின்ற, ‘இரண்டாம் தொகுதி: மினெட் டி சில்வாவின் வடபுழுவ வீட்டுத் திட்டம்’ என்ற ஆய்வைப் பற்றி, MMCA இலங்கையின் தலைமை எடுத்தாளுனரான ஷாமினி பெரெய்ரா அவர்கள், கலைஞர்களான இருஷி தென்னகோன் (பி. 1989), சுமேத கெலேகம (பி. 1988), மற்றும் சுமுது அதுகோரல (பி. 1980) ஆகியோருடன் பேசுகிறார். தற்போது ‘88 ஏக்கர்கள்’ கண்காட்சியில் திரையிடப்படும் ‘is this an architectural documentary?’ (2023) என்ற கலைஞர்களின் அனிமேஷன் ஆவணப்படத்தின் எழுத்தாக்கமும் இவ்வெளியீட்டில் உள்ளடக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.7 ஜூலை 2024 வரை பார்வைக்கு வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள ‘88 ஏக்கர்கள்: மினெட் டி சில்வாவின் வடபுழுவ வீட்டுத் திட்டம்’ கண்காட்சியின் பொது நிகழ்ச்சிகளில் ஒன்றாக இந்த கலரி உரையாடல் வழங்கப்படுகிறது.
