Description

Are you ready to celebrate our 10th (TENTH!!) g4g Day @Brussels and join us for a full day of STEM fun?!

We are inviting 300 girls aged 7-15 to join us for a full day of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fun with over 100 role model volunteers from local and international companies and organisations.

Who are we? We love to have fun with STEM and link it to the world around us in hands-on and cool ways. Our annual g4g Day @Brussels event is aimed at inspiring girls to see the future of possibilities ahead of them! This year, we invite the girls to grab their "Passport to Invention" and explore with us the amazing work of female inventors who came before us.

How ? During our events, we run interactive and fun STEM related workshops. From coding to generating electricity with fruits, from extracting your DNA to making your own drawing robot, from discovering the chemisry behind molecular cooking to the one of bath bombs, we have fun with STEM. The workshop for this event will remain secret until the day of the event, but one thing is certain ; they will all be FUN, educational and hands-on!

But, before we get too excited, first things first. What do you and your parents/guardians need to know?

1/ Registration process

This is the ONLY registration form you will need to fill out in order to confirm your place for your daughter, aged 11-15. Please note that if you wish to register a girl aged 7-10, then the form you are looking for is this one : https://www.eventbrite.com/e/g4g-day-brussels-2019-7-10-years-old-registration-80832410917

In this form, you will be able to confirm her place, share with us any allergies or diet restrictions your daughter may have, and fill in an online Parental Consent and Release Waiver. Once you have registered, she won't need to bring any other paperwork with her on the day.

2/ Waitlist

If the event appears as "sold out", we strongly encourage you to register on our waiting list since we will most likely open a few additiional spots soon.

3/ Workshops and Groups

As always, most of our workshops are brand-new ones from over 10 different companies and organisations so even if you attended our pasr events, we can guarantee that there will be discovery and amazement for you!

Upon their arrival the morning of the event, we will sort the girls in groups. There will be approximately 15 girls per group and each group will go through four different activities throughout the day.

If you'd like to attend the event with a friend, we invite you to arrive together the morning of the event so you can try to pick the same group.

We do our best to include all wishes but as always, the groups will be sorted on a first come, first serve basis. Thank you for understanding we can't guarantee you and your friend will be in the same group the day of the event.

4/ Age

YES, this year again, we have a group for younger girls! We have 45 places for girls aged 7-10 and 255 places for girls aged 11-15. Please note that this will be filled in on a first come basis and we have very limited space. In celebration of our 10th year and aligned with our theme of Passport to Invention, we are inviting all girls aged 11-15 to participate in our g4g Internship Innovation & Sustainability Award, which we are creating in the memory of a special individual who was a strong advocate and partner to g4g and to both innovation & sustainability in the world, Richard Northcote.

Should you choose to participate, this means that g4g would ask you to prepare something in advance of our day. You would have the opportunity to win a mentor opportunity with one of our partners! The winner will be chosen based on her submission provided on the g4g day and announced at the day. We will announce the submission requirements one week before the event to all girls who want to take part. Please let us know if you are interested!

8/ The last bits

As usual, our event is entirely free.

We will provide snacks and lunch that take into account a wide variety of dietary needs. Plus, each girl will receive her own lab coat to customize. If you already have a lab coat from past years, we encourage you to wear it and add to it!

Finally, parents, you don't have to miss the fun! We are calling all hands on deck for this special event, and would love to recruit new dedicated volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign-up here : https://www.eventbrite.com/e/g4g-day-brussels-2019-volunteers-registration-75739026467

Greenlight for girls started with one e-mail sent to around the world with one question: Do you believe there is something we need to do to encourage girls in STEM? Since then, we have engaged and inspired over 60,000 students working with our growing network of 13,000+ volunteer role models at over 450 events worldwide in 109 cities, 35 countries, and 6 continents which show the link of STEM to all careers, and to role models and companies for their future. All of our events and activities are compliments to school curriculum - they are hands-on, connect girls to role models, create community, and help boost confidence and a sense of belonging in STEM fields -- all which our research has shown are needed to move the needle for more gender balance in these fields.

We work with amazing global partners to make this happen - reach out to find out how you can be one of them.
