King County Emergency Mgmt. - Training & Exercise

A course to enable students to develop an effective interface between the on-scene Incident Command and the Emergency Operations Center.

The goal of this course is to enable the students to develop an effective interface between the Incident Command / Unified Command and the Emergency Operations Center by applying National Incident Management System principles.  Specifically:<ul><li>Examine the role and function of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in providing support to the incident.</li><li>Focus on the coordination between the Incident Command System (ICS) and the EOC.</li></ul>NOTE: This is a remote-access class that will be using the Zoom video-conferencing system. Because of the amount of small-group exercises in this course, unless there are technological hurdles for someone, all students will be **expected** to participate with a live video camera during most of the class (even if it&#x27;s just from their cell phone).Course Objectives:<ul><li>Identify potential ICS/EOC interface challenges.</li><li>Explain key NIMS concepts, command and coordination systems, and structures.</li><li>Analyze given scenarios to determine commonalities and potential interface issues between ICS and EOCs.</li><li>Explain the respective roles and interconnectivity of the NIMS command and coordination systems in coordination.</li><li>Contrast the typical role and functions of the Incident Command and the EOC during emergency operations.</li><li>Analyze given scenarios to apply ICS/EOC interface concepts.</li><li>Develop an ICS/EOC interface action plan for your community.</li></ul>Prerequisites (REQUIRED):NOTE: As a first step, register for the class on this site. We will be meeting from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM each day.Class Size: 12-36 participantsCost: NoneTarget Audience:The intended audience(s) are federal, state, tribal, territorial, local level, private industry, volunteer and nongovernmental emergency management personnel who are active in a community&#x27;s Incident Response or Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activities. This course works best when delivered to a combined audience of Incident Response and EOC personnel.
