Futuring Ideathon

Futuring Ideathon

Overview

What is the future of creativity and innovation in Munich?

We don’t enter the future—we imagine it first. The futuring method views the future as a verb – as something we can develop and influence positively together, not least through our own visions of the future.

Coming from SXSW, ‘Futuring our World – An Imaginative Ideathon’ was conceived and facilitated by Amy Clare, PhD, BioSysteM Cluster / TU München, and Marlise Schneider, PhD, TransforM Cluster / TU München. Together with the two researchers, Munich Business, Kreativ München, and a collection of creative and innovative mentors are now bringing the ideathon to Munich.

On 21 September, from 5 pm to 7 pm, at the Munich Urban Colab, we will apply the futuring approach to the collaboration between the tech and creative ecosystems in Munich.

The Ideathon offers participants the opportunity to get to know the futuring method, develop ideas for the future together, and network across sectors. The aim is to generate new perspectives, collaborations, and cross-sector innovation.

The Ideathon will focus on three topics:

  • Education & Collaboration: How can tech professionals and creatives collaborate more effectively? How can we improve our understanding of each other’s language, needs, and ways of working?
  • Public Space & Shared Worlds: What physical spaces, formats, events and platforms do we need to inspire and improve collaboration between tech and creative scenes?
  • Innovation & Creativity: What do we need to be innovative and creative? What do innovation processes and creative practices have in common, and how can they enrich one another?

These topics will be discussed at three stations, which all participants will visit during the ideathon. Each station will be supervised by two mentors, who will facilitate the discussion using their guiding questions and briefly summarise the key insights at the end. The ideathon will be held in English, but contributions to the discussion may also be made in German.

There will be networking afterwards, and self-pay drinks at a bar: location TBA.
