I’m probably best known as one of the two co-founders of Overleaf, which I led as CEO for almost a decade. Overleaf is the market-leader in LaTeX-based collaborative writing, and serves over 11 million users worldwide -- students, researchers, teachers and more. By providing modern collaborative authoring tools, Overleaf is helping to make science and research faster, more open and more transparent.Overleaf is part of Digital Science, where I currently lead researcher and community engagement. Digital Science is a brilliant collection of people and products working to transform science and research communication for the better. After a <A HREF="https://storify.com/digitalsci/futurepub-8" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">great turnout at our last #FuturePub in London in September</A>, and given that lots of people are in town for the London Bookfair in March, we're hosting our tenth (!) #FuturePub as a pre-LBF event on March 13th!
The evenings are designed to be fun and informal - we aim to give opportunities to those working on new ideas and innovations a chance to present and get feedback on their ideas. And did I mention the free pizza?
Quite remarkably, this is now the tenth #FuturePub we've run, since our <A HREF="http://www.freyfogle.com/post/73565925098/the-futurepub-event" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">first back in January 2014</A>, and we're now described as <A HREF="http://easternblot.net/2015/01/28/futurepub/" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="FuturePub 4 review" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">"a staple of the London science tech/publishing scene"</A> (thanks Eva!).
In case this is your first time, here's how it works:

Five or six quick-fire talks cover a range of new and exciting developments in science & publishing tech.

These all fit into a one hour slot (from 7-8pm), to keep the evening fast-paced and fun! Arrive early for pre-talk pizza and drinks! :)

The rest of the evening is then open for discussions and conversations over the remainder of the drinks and/or pizza! We get a great mixture of attendees from the research, publishing and start-up communities, and we usually head to a nearby pub to continue on into the small hours.

Here's the awesome line-up we have for you:
 A New Cartography of Collaboration
Traditional collaboration measures tend to lag (co-authorship of published papers) or only reveal part of the picture (investigators on grant funding). Here I'll present the first Digital Science Report to include analysis of selected Overleaf collaboration data, uncovering the structure of research relationships in real time. The results, presented here for the first time, show a new picture of collaborative research in its infancy.

 Open Engagement and Quality Incentives in peer review
What are the effects of opening the reviewer engagement, and of creating social incentives for quality, in scientific peer review and publishing? I will present data on reviewer behaviour and performance, and their correlations with eventual impact metrics of reviewed articles, in Peerage of Science. Peerage of Science is a different peer review and submission system, challenging many of the traditional dogmas of peer review.

 Discover what you've been missing
With a unique technology that applies machine learning and advanced algorithms to textual documents, Yewno identifies semantic objects that each convey information and therefore can be given context to other concepts. As such, an artificial “neural network” is formed, and via a sophisticated, yet simple-to-use visual concept browser Yewno Discover offers the searcher efficient understanding of a new topic and effective insight into interdisciplinary connections.

Crossref Event Data
Crossref Event Data is nearing beta testing, and we'd love to show you what it can do. CED is an open, transparent service for discovering how scholarly articles are shared, used and discussed outside the traditional literature. It finds links to scholarly content on social media, blogs and discussions so you can build tools and services and conduct research. I'll be showing you what it does, how it works, how you can get involved and I've love to know what you think of it.

Musicians and scientists
Science and music might seem like two different fields, but many people practice both. Some have careers in both fields, others have one as main job and one as hobby. Famous examples include Einstein, Feynman, Borodin, Björk, Elgar, Brian May, Charlotte Church, Brian Cox, and Emili Sandé, but there are so many others. There are amateur musicians working in research labs, and professional musicians studying science on the side. But why are there so many? And what can music do for science, and vice versa? 
Eva Amsen is a science writer (freelance) and scientific engagement manager (currently with the Transforming Genetic Medicine Initiative). She plays violin with local orchestras, where she is never the only scientist.
