Bioregionalism is a way of seeing and organizing human life that begins with place. It asks: What does this land need? and How can we live well within its limits and gifts? Rooted in ecology, culture, and community, bioregionalism focuses on regenerating local systems, food, water, energy, governance, guided by the wisdom of those who know the land best. It is both ancient and urgently contemporary: a practice of relocalizing our economies and relationships while building solidarity across regions.

As the bioregional movement continues to grow, a key question comes into focus: How can philanthropy effectively support community-led, place-based regeneration at scale?

This second session in our Bioregionalism in Practice webinar series which explores the evolving role of funders nurturing the conditions for systemic transformation rooted in place.

We’ll examine how philanthropic capital can flow in more regenerative, responsive, and relational ways, aligned with the values of bioregionalism and informed by the lived experience of communities on the frontlines of ecological and cultural restoration.

In this conversation, we’ll explore:

• Real-world perspectives from bioregional initiatives such as the Amazon Sacred Headwaters, on the challenges and opportunities of accessing appropriate funding
• Key insights from a new report mapping the funding landscape for regenerative, bioregional projects
• The priorities and approaches of aligned funders, including the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Cisco Foundation.
• What it takes to build the ecosystems of relationships, shared values, and trust, that makes place-based transformation possible
