About this event

  • 2 hours 30 minutes

While many people come to Fort Columbia Historical State Park to explore the decommissioned barracks and bunkers, this special place also preserves an incredible mixed-conifer forest with some amazing views of the Columbia River! We'll take the 2.5 mile hike easy and immerse ourselves in this biodiverse place with a long human history going back thosands of years. You will need a Discover Pass to park here; they are available for purchase on-site.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn about local nature. Your guide, Rebecca Lexa, will share her knowledge about the local flora, fauna, and fungi, as well as the ecosystems they are a part of. Bring your curiosity and your questions, and allow yourself to get to know this amazing natural place more deeply.

While the trail is well maintained, it's on a steep hill, and there are rugged areas and places where you may need to look out for exposed tree roots, so please wear appropriate footwear; hiking poles may also be helpful. Participants will be required to sign a liability form before we embark on the tour and agree to a code of conduct that basically boils down to "be nice to each other, and be nice to the land."

Ticket covers admission for one person. Gratuities after the tour are optional but appreciated.
