Front-End Web Development: Introduction to JavaScript Programming

The Foster Family Center for Engineering Service Learning is UC Merced's cornerstone experiential learning experience program. We offer the community free workshops and skill sessions on topics ranging from professional development to technical data analysis and microcontroller programming.

The Web Development Workshop Series is geared towards giving an introduction of how websites are designed and created. With this in mind, students will learn about markup languages, such as HTML and CSS, and an introduction to programming languages such as JavaScript. They will also learn about how to make a website live, and server-side interactions.
This workshop will be going over how to implement user-side functionality through scripting events by the use of the JavaScript programming language. Here, attendees will learn about JavaScript syntax, as well as obtain an introduction to the principles of programming by learning the use of variables, classes and objects, and how to make them functional in a webpage.
