Tales from the Marsh

A nest is invaded. A policeman turns his surveillance onto the siskins. Ice traps a swan. A grandpa divines the coming rain in cracked earth. A girl takes control of a JCB digger. Rough sleepers day-dream under the dark bridge. A tower blocks the skyline. Contrails connect Pakistan and Lithuania across Walthamstow skies. Promises lie broken in the mud.
Made in collaboration with three local groups, From the Ground Up explores the magnetic pull of Walthamstow and Leyton Marshes.
Through creative workshops and walking conversations, Siobhan O’Neill has carved out a space for inhabitants to reflect on their diverse lived experiences of the Marshes. From intimate stories to political provocations, these narratives unearth a strong bond to common land, simmering anxiety over urban development and an intense need to connect with the natural environment.
Live performance, reminiscence, image, poetry and landscape combine to create a quirky and poignant evocation of this urban wildness. 
From the Ground Up can be seen on the 9th and 10th of July 2016 by ticket only.
Additional details about the performance 
The performance will begin at 2.30pm on the 9th and 10th of July 2016 at Coppermill Field, Coppermill Lane, London, E17 7HE. 
Audience members are expected to arrive at 2.15pm in the feild next to the Car Park. You will be escorted to where the performance will begin by a member of the Tales from the Marsh Team. 
Please ensure you dress appropriately for an outdoor event. It is a promenade performance and therefore there will be no seating available. In addition audience members will be expected to bend through a short 5ft tunnel.
