About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

The Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 was a watershed moment. Scottish journalist Jen Stout decided to move immediately from Moscow to a border post in Romania where she could assess the cost and scale of Russian aggression. Her celebrated new book ‘Night Train to Odesa’ tells the human cost, stories and tragedies of the ongoing war with empathy and compassion.

    Organized by

Kirkcudbright Fringe is a new arts and culture festival taking place on 1-3 September 2023 - bringing together live music, film, comedy, visual arts, performance, and talks and discussion across the town. It aims to showcase a range of voices and talents - emerging, new and established - adding to the reputation and feel of Kirkcudbright, its public spaces and places.

As Kirkcudbright Fringe we work in partnership with a host of people and bodies to make our programme, and the experience that people will have, varied and enjoyable – for new and returning visitors, and local residents - further enhancing the reputation of our town and the Dumfries and Galloway region. We hope you like it, and welcome suggestions and input for future years.
