From Cauldron to Georgian Splendour.
A Talk on the Geology of St Enda's Park, followed by a walk around the Park as we discover how the landscape was created throughout history.
The landscape of St Enda’s Park, formerly known as the Fields of Oden, has been shaped by physical forces over hundreds of millions of years and by human forces over thousands of years. The landscape is dynamic and going through a process of continuous change.
Local studies enthusiast, Tony Dunne, will outline, in a short illustrated talk, the formation of the local bedrock, granite, and show how it was sculpted by denudation and human activities over time into the landscape we enjoy today. Afterwards, he will lead a walk to a number of sites within the park where there is evidence of the forces that operated in the past and observe some forces that are actively shaping it today.
