About this event
The Portland Parks Foundation will bring Portland’s parks communities together on October 12, 2023 for our annual Fall Friends & Allies Summit. Come network, learn from each other, and dive deeper into creating more equitable access to nature, play, health, and places of connection.
During this year's summit, we are fostering more time for rest and reflection - practices that may be hard to come by during these ongoing times of social crisis and care.
We are offering a morning meditation session to help you depart from your normal work day and ready your mind for deeper conversations (be sure to select that on your registration).
We are honored to offer a keynote presentation by Marina Martinez-Bateman of New Coyote, helping us to think about alternatives to harmful systems and refocusing on impact over image. This will be followed by lunchtime and a chance connect, reflect and digest.
After lunch, participants are invited to engage in a 3-hour workshop of your choice focused on: creating a culture of care within your teams and organization, taking charge of your non-profit financials, creating more affirming spaces for LGBTQIA2S+ youth; or expanding equity & access within your organization. All participants are welcome to debrief and decompress at an optional happy hour following the program.
Lunch includes gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.

Build Our Own Parklette - BOOP!
And just for fun, we thought, why not also build a little parklette at the Friends & Allies Summit? If you've got a favorite house plant whose company you'd like to share with attendees for the day, bring them along! We will be setting up a "parklette" in the main room where folks can find rest and green respite throughout the day. All plants will go home with original caretakers at the end of the day.
