About this event

Join us for a program to learn more about your rights as a freelancer and the broader landscape of gig work in the cultural sector. Are you a freelancer? Do you have your own business? Have you ever had payment issues with a client? Find out how the 2017 Freelance Isn’t Free Act likely provides you with greater protections and rights than you may currently think you have. Our guest speaker, Kyle Carraro, is an attorney who regularly works with freelancers and small business owners in virtually everything from formation to litigation.

Kyle will be giving a legal presentation on who the Freelance Isn’t Free Act applies to, how it enhances freelancers’ ability to take action against clients for nonpayment and other improper practices, and strategies for collecting on unpaid invoices. Conversely, if you hire freelancers as part of your business, Kyle will also address best practices for ensuring you are in compliance with the law. There will be time for Q+A, and information provided on larger labor trends in the industry.

RSVP Required - Space is extremely limited and RSVPs will be capped. Resources from the program will be posted on our website after.
