Sing, Sound & Speak Your Truth with Confidence Outdoors in a Park!

This 10-week class series runs on Saturdays 1130am-1pm from April 6-June 8 (last class includes potluck and hangout). OK to join late up to week 3. Groups strive to be at least 50% Black, Indigenous, mixed-race, and people of color and LGBTQIA.

Free your voice and play your body instrument with confidence in this playful, heartfelt 10-class series with Phoenix Song. Learn healthy vocal techniques for singing, sounding, and speaking. Experience the healing and transformative effects of sound vibrations in this connecting workshop. Learn freedom and spirit songs from around the world. Play, improvise, discover your own natural language, get expressive and silly, and have fun. You will leave with a solid understanding of both the technical and emotional/psychological aspects of the voice so that you can express yourself with more freedom.

Classes will include:

-- vocal warmups that help you learn how to build and tune your body instrument with breath support, core engagement, proper posture, open throat, resonance, projection, and more.

--uplifting world songs

--vocal improvisation

--expressive arts/play with the voice

--sound meditations to tune your whole body instrument

--small groups and dyads for more intimate connection, singing & play

--harmonizing

--embodied sounding and sound healing

--circle singing

From the sacred to the silly, this workshop will free your voice and your spirit! After each session, you will feel more relaxed and energized, more connected to yourself and others.

This workshop is for all people: total beginners, shy people, those with trauma around their voices, and experienced singers. Everyone will benefit. $395 early bird, $420 regular for 10 sessions.

Frequently asked questions

I'm a total beginner or can't sing. Is this a good class for me?

Yes! Everyone is welcome. I especially like working with newbies and those who believe they can't sing so that everyone sees we can all sing--it's our birthright! This is a judgment free zone, and we all grow together at whatever place you start out.

Are there refunds?

Refunds will be allowed up to 1 week before the class series begins. After that, a credit will be issued good for one year for another group class or private sessions.

Phoenix Song is a queer, nonbinary Korean American adoptee performer, teacher and sound healer featured in San Francisco Magazine's Best of the Bay for yoga music. They are a Tamalpa Associate Teacher of Expressive Arts and completed Level 3 of Somatic Voicework, the Lovetri Method. Phoenix has performed and taught at SF Jazz, Esalen, Wanderlust, the Yoga Journal Conference, UC Santa Cruz, SF International Arts Festival, and more. They specialize in world fusion music and freeing people's voices and rhythms so that they can sing, sound, and speak their truths with confidence.
