Presentation Description: We have trillions of microbes within our digestive tract, making up the densest ecosystem in the world. Each microbe generates chemicals or metabolites in response to its environment and within the digestive tract, this environment is influenced through the foods we eat. Learn how to manipulate the chemicals that are created through the foods we eat and how this influences inflammation, neurological function, and immune responses. Rather than be manipulated, the objective of this talk is to empower everyone to take control of the chemicals that are created within us to help manage the numerous chronic illness our society faces today, autism being where my (Dr. Katherine Reid) passion started.

Bio: Katherine Reid, Ph.D, is the Executive Director and founder of Unblind My Mind, a nonprofit that educates and raises awareness of the links between foods we eat and the chronic illnesses we suffer. Through her research, Katherine came to believe that certain foods common in the Western diet were associated with her daughter's autistic behaviors. Seeing the profound effect of diet on the brain with many of her clients, she has become a provocateur questioning medical approaches and food manufacturing practices relating to health.
Katherine has presented two TEDx talks, spoke at Currando El Autismo Conference in Puerto Rico (2014), Transform Your Health Summit (2014) and has provided local lectures at schools, local functions, and Unblind My Mind organized conference. She was also featured in San Francisco Chronicle, Fox News, NY Daily News, Talk 910am radio, KFIAM 640 radio, Coast to Coast radio, and various blogs and podcasts.
