If you've ever wondered how glass artists make beautiful glass works, this is your chance to see them working in the studio! Please note that this is a demonstration only, you can stop by anytime during the timeframe (come and go), and registration will allow you to receive an email reminder about the event.

Connor Garton is a British glass artist who has been working with glass since he was 17. He grew up in a small country town called Poole which is situated in the country of Dorset in England, UK. For 10 years he has worked in glass studios, factories, and museums such as the National Glass Center, English Antique glass and London Glass Blowing. He started working for a tourist driven studio in Weymouth, England called Stuart Wiltshire Glass which is where he learned most of his basic skills in the glass field. After completing college, he went to the University of Sunderland where he completed his undergraduate degree and Master's in Art Glass practice. After his studies, he worked around England, Australia and the United States to gain valuable work and life experiences in factories and studio environments. During this time, he exhibited his work in several exhibitions in Galleries including a Solo Exhibition at 5th Base Art Gallery on Brick Lane in London.
Connor is inspired by the human experience, cultural mythology, and Celtic history. He has developed work for himself as a solo artist and has worked as a sculptor for other artists such as Richard Jolley, Damien Hirst, and Elliot Walker.
He is currently living and working in Weatherford, Texas where he produces glass artworks to be sold around the United States.
Artwork Description:
The fallow deer are an endangered breed of deer that share similar origins and both inhabit the United Kingdom and United States. Although these bucks go by the name of Axis Deer, they are of Indian origin and are brought over to the States for good game. They share the same patterning, characteristics and migration that the fallow deer have in the UK. Interested in their beauty and elegance, I have been making pieces with the signature attributes that the deer are known for. Using a combination of traditional and contemporary glass making techniques, I celebrate these animals in the best possible light. The glass making techniques I use include a complex cane working technique called reticello to replicate their fur pattern. The colour pallet of reds, yellows and browns in the glass compliment the design. Once the final shape is created using sculpting techniques, a bespoke platform is made using wood, resin and glass to display the deer.
