This 2 hour life saving skills course is for members of the local oommunity of all ages and physical abilities. The session will cover:

  • the difference between a cardiac arrest and a heart attack
  • How to recognise that someone has had a cardiac arrest
  • how to perform effective chest compressions (minimal interruptions)
  • how to use a public access defibrillator
  • the importance of downloading whatthreewords
  • how to find your nearest public access defib
  • how to place someone in the recovery position
  • The course will take place at Riversmeet Active, Gillingham
  • Comfortable clothes advised.

What should I wear?

Loose, comfortable clothing as you will be encouraged to practice chest compressions on training mannikins.

How much does it cost?

There is no set fee to attend the course. However the success of this training relies on ongoing donations and attendees will have the opportunity to make a donation to Swans Trust - who financially support the Gold Hill Training project.

Where do I park?

There is free parking at the venue.

Who provides the training?

Hannah McClean, is an experienced nurse and accredited RCUK instructor , She has been training medical staff resuscitation skills for more than a decade. She lives in Shaftesbury, works in Gillingham.

Can I still attend the course if my mobility limits how much of the practical training I can do?

Yes absolutely. This session is for people of all ages and physical abilities. If you inform the trainer of any health/physical needs at the beginning of the session, they can make the necessary adjustments to ensure you still are able to benefit from the course.
