Childbirth Education Series

This comprehensive series in three parts provides clinical and holistic advice on the entire birth experience. Please register for all three classes: Part 1 on 2/21/24, Part 2 on 2/28/24 and Part 3 on 3/6/24.

Learn how to navigate scenarios during pregnancy, labor, and delivery, including postpartum and newborn care:

  • Extensive instruction on Lamaze and Bradley techniques.
  • Birth plan suggestions.
  • Third-trimester development.
  • Signs and symptoms of preterm labor.
  • What to expect in the hospital, home, or birth center.
  • Hospital protocols during active labor.
  • All stages of labor.
  • Difference between true vs false labor.
  • Relaxation and breathing techniques.
  • Pain management options and medications.
  • Required medical interventions and procedures.
  • Pushing positions.
  • Benefits of uninterrupted skin-to-skin with the newborn.
  • Postpartum needs and essentials.
  • Baby care for the first two weeks of life.
  • COVID-19 health concerns, and the current best practices. Learn about risks, regulations, and safety measures during pregnancy, labor, and delivery.

Instructor Bio:

Kayann Stephens is a licensed registered nurse, who has worked with the top OB and midwife practices throughout the tri-state. She brings her expertise in pregnancy and childbirth to the Family Wellness Suite at the Tremont Neighborhood Health Action Center.
