ARTIST WORKSHOP
Sun., June 16, 2024 | Noon to 4:00 pm

All Ages Welcome!

Stephanie McMillan
We Are All Related Coloring Workshop

Explore your creativity with a coloring and comic book workshop inspired by Stephanie McMillan’s original Illustrations of South Florida wildlife on view at the Center. Visitors will learn about Florida species and make their own coloring books and comic strips.

Stephanie McMillan's colorful drawings, paintings, and prints are inspired by the artist’s love for the plants and wildlife of South Florida, where she is a third-generation resident. McMillan creates vibrant and playful settings where animals thrive. Our Free Arts! Family Day will be the last day to view her exhibition at the Center.

Also on view:

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Stephanie McMillan’s work evolves from her career in comics and focuses on social transformation and ecological healing. After graduating with a BFA in animation from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in 1987, McMillan worked for 25 years as a cartoonist and illustrator producing award-winning editorial cartoons, syndicated comic strips, and graphic novels that have been published and exhibited internationally.

Since 2022, McMillan is an Artist-in-Residence at the New River Inn History Museum in Fort Lauderdale, and a Broward County Cultural Division grant recipient (2022 and 2024). Sixteen of her illustrations, collectively titled Love is All Around, are permanently installed on utility boxes in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Exhibitions include “Love the Living” and “Wild Florida” on view at the New River Inn History Museum and “Rewild Florida,” a solo exhibition at Flamingo Gardens opening September 28, 2024.
