Get ready for a fun-filled day where the kids take the spotlight and the community comes together to celebrate!
The Fred Meyer Junior Parade is packed with fun from the moment Fred Bear cuts the ribbon to the final float down the street. Kids from across Portland join the celebration by dressing in costume, decorating bikes, transforming wagons into floats, or marching with friends and family.
Marching bands from local elementary and middle schools fill the Hollywood District with music, while dance teams bring color and energy to the parade. However they participate, Portland’s kids get their chance to shine on KATU.
The Junior Parade begins at Sandy Blvd and NE 52nd Ave at 12:00 p.m. It then travels down the one-mile parade route on Sandy Blvd, then turns North onto NE 40th Ave, then West onto NE Tillamook, and ends at Grant High School.
Families and Groups -
Families and groups are invited to take part in the Fred Meyer Junior Parade on Saturday, May 30 by creating fun, kid-focused entries. Community groups, affinity groups, small businesses, dance teams, sports teams, and more are welcome to participate. Celebrate by forming a walking group, decorating non-motorized vehicles, or building a hand-crafted float for the big parade.
On parade day, visit the Decoration Station at NE 52nd & Sandy Blvd, presented by Visit Seaside Oregon, to pick up free materials to decorate your bike, wagon, scooter, umbrella, or yourself. After decorating, you’ll be guided to your spot in the parade to join the fun!
Dance, Drill, & Baton Groups -
This is your opportunity to show off your moves while making your way down Sandy Boulevard!
If you want your group to be included in the Television Script you need to submit your application by Friday, May 1st!
