About this event

Financial Aid 101 (FA 101)/ FSA ID workshop

Join us for an informative session about the ins and outs of financial aid! Whether you are a student, parent or guardian, this event is designed to help you navigate the financial aid process, including the FAFSA, scholarships, grants, and loans.

During this in-person workshop, one or more financial aid experts will be available to assist parents and students in setting up the account needed for FAFSA completion. We recommend the student and all parent(s) create an account (FSA ID) at StudentAid.gov three to five days prior to filling out the FAFSA that will be available at some time in December 2023.

This event is free.

Register, mark your calendars and join us! Event reminders will be sent via email from Eventbrite

Who needs to file the FAFSA?

Any student considering attending college needs to complete the FAFSA to apply for scholarships, grants, and other financial aid such as work-study funds and loans. Completing and submitting the FAFSA is free and easier than ever. It also gives you access to the largest source of aid to help pay for college or career school.

In addition, many states and colleges use your FAFSA information to determine eligibility for state and school scholarships and grants. Some private aid providers may use the information to determine whether you qualify for their scholarships.

What will I need to fill out the FAFSA?

To complete the FAFSA, you will need:

• Your Social Security Number

• Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)

• Your 2022 federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned.

• Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)

• Records of child support received in 2022

• Your FSA ID, which must be created in advance at StudentAid.gov

If you are a dependent student, you will also need the above information for your parent(s).
